Tarazona will once again become one of the great stages of Aragón TV, Aragón Radio and the Aragón Play platform this Thursday, August 27. The channel will once again carry out a wide deployment to offer live one of the most anticipated moments of the Aragonese festive calendar: the departure of the Cipotegato, which officially marks the beginning of the patron saint festivities in honor of San Atilano.
From 11.20 am, a special edition of the program «Here and Now» will allow you to follow from different parts of Tarazona the departure of this emblematic figure from the Town Hall and a good part of the route through the streets of the historic center, in a broadcast that will combine the excitement of the race, the participation of the people of Turiasona and the spectacular nature of the traditional rain of tomatoes typical of this unique festival.
The coverage will be carried out from the Plaza de España and from different locations in the city center, bringing viewers closer to the atmosphere that is experienced in Tarazona, also during the moments before the departure of the Cipotegato.
The intention is to show both the development of the race and everything that happens around it: the previous sale of tomatoes, the concentration of hundreds of people in the square, the preparations, the nerves and the particular atmosphere that makes this event one of the most unique celebrations in Aragon.
The broadcast will be hosted by the journalist Eva Hinojosa, together with the Turiasonense journalist of Aragón Radio, Marcos Ruiz, who will provide first-hand knowledge of a festival deeply linked to the identity of the city, and the ex-Cipotegato Luis Abril, who will tell us about his experience in the first person.
In addition, the aerial images offered by a drone will contribute to showing from another perspective both the route chosen this year and the dimension of a celebration that every year brings together thousands of people in the streets of Tarazona.
In Aragón Radio Buenos días Aragón travels a large part of its team to Tarazona to live the departure of the Cipotegato. With Marta Peláez in the City Council, Pedro Modrego in the mobile studio installed next to the Queiles and Toño Rebordinos along the tour of the city. The excitement of the party at every point and moment can be experienced live on Aragón Radio in a program in which the atmosphere of the city and its sounds will be the protagonists, but also the music and groups that perform at the parties and the people who make them possible.
A TOUR DESIGNED TO DISCOVER THE CITY
The protagonist of this edition will be a 49-year-old from Turiason, who had been participating in the draw for 25 years before being chosen. As tradition states, his identity will remain hidden until he completes the race and returns to the Plaza de España.
This year’s route has been designed by Cipotegato himself and has a markedly monumental character. After leaving the Town Hall, the race will run through some of the most recognizable spaces of the historic center of Tarazona, with an itinerary that will allow to value the heritage and the unique architecture of the city. The arrival at the square will once again become one of the culminating moments of broadcasting, when the Cipotegato accesses the statue located in front of the town hall.
