The International Festival on the Camino de Santiago (FICS) organized by the Provincial Council of Huesca (DPH) has ended its thirty-fifth edition with a total of 13,513 attendees, between the concerts and parallel activities that have made up its attractive and well-rounded program. Carlos Sampériz, deputy of Culture, has highlighted the main reasons for this new success of the event. «A festival always committed to the territory, to tangible and intangible heritage; bringing the province a unique and high-quality experience in each concert».

Under the common heading of «Paths at sea», or what was the same, «The musical heritage of the Crown of Aragon. XII-XVIII centuries», this edition has been «more than special, highlighting our roots, our identity and sense of belonging, everything that unites us. Thus, in addition, the celebration of the festival has helped us to know more about ourselves, and about the towns and neighbors that surround us,» says Carlos Sampériz.

In the same vein, the director of the festival and Culture technician of the DPH, Luis Calvo, has highlighted the careful offer, «where we have selected first-rate performers and formations, with unique programs and tailored to the theme, with which to articulate the contents of an edition that is always more than expected, as it is a contest that is a benchmark in the national panorama of early and baroque music».

Likewise, its head has valued the great recognition that the festival has had and, therefore, all the live shows that the province has hosted, since «in general, its churches and temples have completed the different capacities, adding a total of 4,846 spectators in its nineteen concerts». The three live performances held in La Ciudadela, the one in the Cathedral of Jacay and the one in Siresa, have been the five most outstanding recitals according to its director Luis Calvo, within the outstanding program of this latest edition of the FICS.

MORE ACTIVITIES

The Street Theatre Series was postponed due to the fire that devastated the region this summer. The rest of the Festival performances, Luis Calvo points out, «have added 245 people among the participants in the Film Series «Images of the Mediterranean» in Hecho and Jaca, the specialized conference of Luis Delgado, and the excursion organized by the Festival together with the Association of Friends of the Camino in Jaca, from Somport with the end of the stage in Canfranc Estación».

Likewise, during the festival, the Diocesan Museum of Jaca has added 8,422 visits that have been able to enjoy the exhibition «Sounds of the Crown of Aragon: Echoes in the Mediterranean», complementing the artistic and cultural itinerary proposed for this year. «In this case it has been higher than in previous years, due to the concentration of more population in Jaca due to the action of closed roads and other monuments closed during the fires,» Calvo points out.
