The CEIP María Zambrano in Parque Venecia will open eight new modular classrooms and a teachers’ room in September. This expansion of the infrastructure responds to the demographic growth that this Zaragoza neighbourhood has experienced.
The assembly work began on July 29, once the slab, the enclosure of the site and the pre-installation of the necessary pipes have been completed, and will provide the center with an additional 590 square meters for the 2026/27 academic year. Each of the eight classrooms has an area of 51 square meters and already has water, discharges and electricity connections, pending at the moment the contracting of supplies.
The total investment for this action, coordinated by the General Directorate of Educational Infrastructures and Equipment, is 900,572 euros. It has been decided to buy the modules directly instead of renting, as had been done in previous legislatures: this will allow that, once they are no longer necessary in the CEIP María Zambrano, these spaces can be moved and reused in other educational centers.
The Department’s technical reports guarantee the amortization of this investment in less than six years, since the useful life of these structures is estimated at 20 years.
A MODULAR MODEL WITH BETTER PERFORMANCE AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY
The building, of 590 square meters, integrates the necessary facilities for the eight classrooms, the teachers’ room, a cleaning room and a telecommunications room. Its design allows approximately 90% of the construction to be carried out in the workshop, leaving only the transport, assembly and final finish for the work, which facilitates and speeds up the installation, reduces costs and deadlines and allows the quality of the final result to be raised.
The system also improves living and comfort conditions, with better thermal and acoustic insulation, interior finishes equivalent to those of traditional construction and a higher level of equipment in terms of fire safety, electricity, telecommunications, public address and air conditioning.
In particular, the air conditioning installation has a much more precise temperature control, since it consists of a thermostat per classroom for individualized temperature control, as well as a heat pump system that allows cold or heat to be supplied through interior splits, two per classroom, with inverter technology of high level of energy efficiency and low consumption; they also have air purifiers to improve its quality indoors.
