Francho Serrano has fallen on his feet at Bordalás’ Getafe and against Nikola Cumic’s Partizan Belgrade, another former Real Zaragoza, completed his third consecutive game starting from the start. The Madrid team lost in Serbia (2-1) but the blue team has qualified for the playoff phase because on aggregate the score is 3-4 in favor of the south of Madrid.
This was the first match for the former Real Zaragoza captain in which he did not play the 90 minutes and was substituted in the 68th minute for Mario Martín to enter the field. In the time he was on the pitch, the midfielder stood out in the defensive section achieving five recoveries, but in attack he hardly contributed beyond several passes with which he tried to break lines.
This will be the first time in his career that he plays in European competition and Getafe, being a team in the Spanish League, is one of the theoretically favourites to win the Conference League. For the moment, Francho has been happy with the decision to leave the Aragonese capital seeing his importance in a Getafe that returns to Europe several years after its last adventure in the Europa League.
BAZDAR ELIMINATED FROM EUROPA LEAGUE
Samed Bazdar made his first start for Sint-Truidense in the defeat in Cyprus against Omonia Nicosia (4-2) that left the Belgian team out of the Europa League group stage. The Bosnian attacker, of Serbian origin, completed more than 80 minutes on the pitch and was one of the best in his team, even causing a penalty.
The most striking thing is that the Belgian team falls to the Conference League and could cross paths with Francho Serrano’s Getafe in the group stage of the third competition because they are in different pots in the draw.
