The Guardia Civil has arrested a worker of a pharmaceutical company in the province of Zaragoza and a man who allegedly collaborated with her for the theft of 478 boxes of medicines subject to medical prescription, valued at more than 166,000 euros. The products, used in weight loss treatments, were later offered on buying and selling platforms outside of health controls.
The investigation began in November 2025, after the company detected the continuous disappearance of products for several months. A Civil Guard patrol went to the facilities and caught an employee red-handed when she tried to take 21 boxes of medicines, worth 9,450 euros.
The investigations made it possible to determine that the woman accessed a restricted area of the company without authorization shortly before the end of her working day. There he allegedly seized the medicines, which were then illegally put on sale through different platforms.
According to sources from the armed institute, the marketing was carried out outside health control and posed a risk to public health, as they are products that require a medical prescription.
MORE THAN 11,000 EUROS HIDDEN IN HIS HOME
During the search carried out at the home of the investigated, the agents located more than 11,000 euros in cash. Of that amount, 10,000 euros were kept in an envelope hidden inside a drawer. The Civil Guards also found 11 boxes of another medicine subject to medical prescription. The investigation made it possible to prove that these products had also been stolen from the company.
The analysis of the evidence led the agents to a second person who allegedly acted in agreement with the employee to facilitate the sale of the medicines. The final count raised the number of stolen boxes to 478, with an approximate value of 166,253 euros.
The Benemérita arrested a 34-year-old woman, a resident of Zaragoza, as the alleged perpetrator of a continuous crime of theft and another against public health. A 40-year-old man was also arrested as an alleged accomplice to the continuous theft and alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health.
In addition, six other people from different provinces have been investigated for an alleged crime of receiving medicines. The two detainees were released after being brought to justice.
