Zaragoza once again showed that football is also lived in the street. The Plaza del Pilar was filled this Sunday until it became a real red tide to follow the final of the World Cup 2026 between Spain and Argentina. More than 32,400 people gathered in front of the three giant screens installed by the City Council to cheer on the team in a spectacular atmosphere.
Long before the start of the match, thousands of fans began to occupy every corner of the square. National team shirts, flags in the wind, scarves and faces painted red and yellow drew an image that is difficult to forget. Entire families, groups of friends and fans of all ages shared a historic event with the same objective: to push Spain towards the world title.
The expectation was maximum throughout the match. Each occasion of danger was answered with a collective cry and the moments of tension kept the more than 32,400 people practically silent, hanging on the screens. The image offered by the Plaza del Pilar, completely packed, was one of the many that were experienced throughout a national panorama that vibrated with Luis de la Fuente’s boys and that exploded with Ferran Torres‘ goal.
The aerial photograph leaves a good example of the magnitude of the event. An immense human flood occupied practically the entire Plaza del Pilar, turning one of the most emblematic places in the city into the epicenter of Spanish football during a night that would end up being historic with the conquest of the World Cup by the Spanish national team.
