Casetas will have a new pedestrian access to the Ricardo Mur Public School, an intervention that aims to reinforce pedestrian safety in the surroundings of the educational centers and facilitate the daily mobility of students, families and neighbors.

The intervention of the Zaragoza City Council will take place on the road that surrounds the Casetas Municipal Sports Center and connects Constitución Avenue with Baleares Street, where both the Ricardo Mur Public School and the IES Ángel Sanz Briz are located.

The action responds to the increase in pedestrian and vehicle traffic registered after the opening of the new school and the need to provide this area with safe pedestrian access, since it currently lacks sidewalks, explains the delegate councilor for Rural Neighborhoods, Paloma Espinosa.

DETAILS OF THE INTERVENTION

The project includes the construction of a new sidewalk that will surround the school to guarantee an accessible and safe route to the educational centers. Likewise, the necessary curb and sidewalk reductions will be executed to ensure the connection with the existing itineraries and facilitate access to the adjoining plots.

In addition, a pipeline will be prepared for the future installation of public lighting and a large area located to the north of the action will be conditioned. It is also planned to enable a bus stop that will contribute to improving access to the school environment by public transport.

The delegate councilor for Rural Neighborhoods, Paloma Espinosa, stressed that this intervention responds to a priority need for Casetas, which is to ensure that children can access their school in safe conditions. «The creation of a pedestrian access is a very important improvement for families and for all the people who pass through this school area daily,» he said.

«From the City Council we continue to promote investments that improve the quality of life in rural neighborhoods, acting where the needs are most evident. Safety, accessibility and the improvement of public spaces are priorities so that our neighbourhoods continue to be more comfortable and safer places to live», he said.
