[EN] Laurynas Birutis, on his arrival at Casademont Zaragoza: «It was a very easy decision because it’s a great club»

The round of presentations of Casademont Zaragoza continues its course and this Thursday it was the turn of one of the signings who is called to be differential this next season such as Laurynas Birutis. The Lithuanian giant comes to reinforce a position of ‘five’ that has been causing so many headaches in recent years and should be that reference in the area this season. 

On his arrival, Birutis commented that «it was really a very simple decision because I wanted to be at a great club like Casademont Zaragoza«. In addition, he also wanted to add that I adore Spain as a country after his time at Monbus Obradoiro a few seasons ago. 

The Lithuanian has decided to leave his country and Zalgiris Kaunas, a Euroleague team, to join a team that this year will not compete in Europe. «The ACB is the best competition because you really play Euroleague level games every week because you compete against Eurocup teams, BCL champions or FIBA Europe Cup champions. I think that the competitiveness of La Liga is one of the great reasons to be here,» he explained about his decision. 

RENALDAS SEIBUTIS AND THEIR ROLE

As for his personal goals, he has been very blunt in stating that «I only think about winning». «I don’t set myself any other goal than that because the most important thing is the team and getting each game ahead,» he added. In addition, he commented on the squad that he believes «we have a good team and hopefully we can have a great season». 

His great competition for the position is going to be Olaseni and he commented that it is still too early to talk about the fight they are going to have because «we have been training very little». And on his role and what he can contribute, he highlighted his competitiveness and experience to «help the team in any way I can». 

One of the people he has spoken to to explain about Zaragoza has been former player Renaldas Seibutis, who was in the Aragonese capital between 2018 and 2019. «He could only tell me very good things about the city, the club and the fans,» said Birutis.
