A traditional morning as well as significant and important for Real Zaragoza. The club in its entirety, with players, club workers and representatives from all its areas, has offered the season that is about to start this Friday to the Virgen del Pilar. And as is often the case, the Zaragoza City Council has subsequently received the team.

With flowers to the Virgin and a great expectation of fans and curious onlookers, the Zaragoza team, led by Ander Herrera and Tachi, entered a Basilica that was full of Real Zaragoza shirts, autograph hunting and a multitude of children excited to be close to the members of Ibai Gómez’s squad.

«With the feeling of tradition that pushes us to your temple every year, but above all with the joy of facing a new sporting challenge, we want to offer you the season we are starting. Be the pillar that guides us, be the pillar that guides us and sustains us in difficulties,» said Ander Herrera, who has acted as Real Zaragoza’s first captain, in a text addressed entirely to the Virgin.

At the culmination of the event, the captains and representatives of the different teams of the white structure (first team, subsidiary, youth, women’s and genuine) presented the flowers to the Virgin. An offering that has preceded the difficult journey that the white entourage has made to the town hall, surrounded by fans who asked for photos and autographs with Ibai and Ander Herrera as the main attractions.

RECEPTION AT THE TOWN HALL

Once inside the institutional building, the councilor for sports, Félix Brocate, and the accidental mayor, Alfonso Mendoza, have received the members of the white entity. «To give you that boost of encouragement for what has to happen this season. You represent an institution that is the history of the people of Zaragoza,» said Natalia Chueca’s temporary replacement.

For his part, the CEO of Real Zaragoza’s new ownership, Bobby Aitkenhead, also had a speech in which he highlighted the work of these first weeks at the helm of the club: «We are sowing positivism in all areas of the club. We are building something that we hope will be very long-term and get to the club where it deserves to be. A project that we can all relate to. To do this we need the support of everyone, the fans and the community».
