[EN] The band that is rock ‘n’ roll history and will perform in this venue in Zaragoza: where to buy tickets

A historic rock’n’roll band that was born in the sixties, changed course in the seventies, never bowed to the trends of the moment, and greatlyinfluenced several generations of classic rock, powerpop, punk rock, garage rock and sixties revival groups, will perform in Zaragoza.

Sixty years after their founding, the Flamin’ Groovies continue to claim the purest and most contagious essence of the genre. The band will celebrate this anniversary and, at the same time, the 50th anniversary of their album «Shake Some Action» at the Rock & Blues Room on Tuesday, September 1 at 8:30 p.m.

The current line-up is led by Cyril Jordan, one of the historical members of the group, along with Tony Sales on drums, Atom Ellis on bass and guitarists Sean Fitzsimmons and Miki Rogulj. On stage, the Flamin’ Groovies go through six decades of songs, with special attention to Shake Some Action, but also to fundamental stages of their career. 

The repertoire recovers the energy of works such as «Teenage Head», closer to primitive rock’n’roll, rockabilly, the Stones and the Yardbirds, and also the powerpop sound of their albums of the late seventies, marked by the influence of the Beatles and Byrds.

In 1966 the band began in San Francisco, California, releasing a couple of years later in the middle of the psychedelic era a self-released 10-inch rock’n’roll album, «Sneakers», as well as the following «Supersnazz» that were ahead in their «revival» style to the success of the also Californian Credence Clearwater Revival. His next two albums, «Flamingo» and the revered classic «Teenage Head,» have a much more electric character.
