Less than two weeks before thousands of Aragonese students return to the classroom, the Federation of Teaching of CCOO Aragón has focused on the lack of temporary teachers in public schools. The union has demanded that all the teachers awarded join on September 1 and not on the 7th, as planned, considering that this delay can «slow down the operation of the centers» especially in rural areas, with «up to 40% fewer teachers» during the days prior to the start of classes.
Next Tuesday, September 8, the school year begins for students of infant, primary and secondary education, and on September 9, baccalaureate. For CCOO, the incorporation of these teachers in public infant and primary schools during that first week can have negative effects «in a week in which Aragonese families have to reconcile work life with the period of school adaptation of their children».
Likewise, the union has pointed to consequences for the teachers themselves already assigned for these courses, considering that there may be «an overload of work and a worsening of their working conditions». As for the temporary teachers who remain to be incorporated, their «late» hiring may translate into a «precariousness» of their conditions, they have stressed.
For all these reasons, the CCOO Aragón Teaching Federation has asked the Department of Education to make effective the incorporation on September 1, of all the interim teachers of the call of August 27, «because the preparation of the didactic programs and all the processes prior to the teaching activity require effort and essential dedication«.
