[EN] The music festival of this town in Zaragoza where the organ is the protagonist

The churches of the villages of Aragon are brimming with cultural heritage. The church of Ainzón, the church of Nuestra Señora de Piedad, hides an instrumental jewel: a Baroque organ dating from 1802. The instrument is the axis of the Organalia Mundi festival, organized by the Association of Friends of the Historic Organ of Ainzón (AORHA), which, after two years of resounding success, has established itself as a unique event in the cultural calendar of Aragon.

The project, funded by the Diputación de Zaragoza, intertwines four essential pillars: baroque organ music, culture, wine and heritage. The Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de Piedad will host a programme that combines great concerts, talks on local heritage, guided tours and days of pairing between music and wine at street level.

The undisputed protagonist of the festival is the historic organ of Ainzón, built by Miguel de Usarralde, a member of one of the most active sagas of Zaragoza organ builders of his time. «Many young generations of the municipality, as a result of this festival, have discovered a unique piece of our municipality and that we could not even imagine what it was like to see it from the inside,» said the mayor of Ainzón, Paula Cruz.

A FIRST-CLASS PROGRAM

The programme for this edition is structured in five large blocks. The opening will be performed by the instrumentalists of MUSICARA with Víctor Manuel de San Martín on organ, trumpeters Marcos Gutiérrez and Víctor Grao, and euphonium player Felipe Monteagudo. They will present their proposal «Majestad Sonora», a journey through famous fanfares, arias and preludes for organ and brass.

The festival will close with a concert by Ana Isabel Serrano Sanz, PhD in Art History and senior professor of organ and harpsichord, with «Florilegio de música ibérica para tecla: de las glosas y los tientos a la batalla imperial». The cycle «Music in the Portico» will include the performance of Alam Folk, with a journey through medieval and Spanish Renaissance music from traditional music, and the Musicara Wind Quintet, with its show «Clásicos al Viento».

In the heritage section, the historian Manuel Ramón Pérez Jiménez will offer the talk «The valley of the Huecha in the Modern Age: the case of Ainzón and Veruela», while Pedro José Aznar San Martín will present «The family legacy: a journey through the most common surnames of Ainzón», the result of a meticulous research in the archives of the municipalities of the region.

The program is completed with guided tours of the tower and its bells, the internal mechanism of the baroque organ and the parish museum, as well as the days of wine and live music with which each afternoon of the festival will close.
