Zaragoza has boasted a deep-rooted tapas culture for years and this autumn it will put it to the test again in one of its great gastronomic showcases. Zaragoza residents and tourists will be able to visit bars and establishments in the capital and the province again to discover the proposals of the XXXI edition of the Official Contest of Tapas de Zaragoza y Provincia, which will be held from November 5 to 15, 2026.
The Professional Association of Entrepreneurs of Cafés and Bars of Zaragoza and Province has already opened the registration period for establishments that want to participate. The contest aims to promote consumption, boost the activity of hospitality businesses and value the quality, creativity and professionalism of Zaragoza’s gastronomy.
Each establishment may present between one and six gastronomic proposals, with a maximum of one per modality:
- Aragonese Tapa «Aragón, Sabor de Verdad».
- Mediterranean Tapa.
- Original Cover.
- Tapa made with Jamón de Teruel DOP.
- Banderilla.
- Special Mention to the Sweet Tapa.
THE SWEET LID, A NOVELTY FOR 2026
The new Sweet Tapa category will be one of the novelties of this XXXI edition. It will have a specific jury and will allow the selected proposal to directly access the grand finale.
The participating establishments will also be able to opt for different Popular Awards: Best Tapa in the Province, Tapa Zaragoza UNESCO Creative City, Tapa Suitable for Celiacs, Ternasco de Aragón IGP offal, Most Popular Tapa, Best Bar and Best Service.
AWARD FOR THE BEST TAPA 2026
The establishment that wins the first prize for the Best Tapa 2026 will also have the opportunity to represent the Association in the Official Contest of Tapas and Pintxos of Hospitality España 2027.
With more than three decades of experience, the Official Tapas Competition of Zaragoza and Province continues to be an important showcase for the local hospitality industry and a tool for promoting gastronomy, culinary innovation and economic activity linked to the sector.
