But this journey is not only about impossible landscapes. Underground there are also fragments of the history of Aragon: remains of prehistoric animals, traces of the passage of human beings from the Neolithic or even stories of witches and rituals that are still part of the popular imagination in some corners of the Pyrenees. A natural and cultural heritage that is gaining more and more prominence and that invites you to discover a different side of the territory, so we propose a route through five of the most spectacular caves in Aragon that you cannot miss.
THE CRYSTAL GROTTOES OF MILLS
In the heart of the Teruel Maestrazgo, a few kilometres from Molinos, is one of the most impressive caves in Aragon. The Grutas de Cristal stand out for their geological richness and for a route that descends up to 24 metres underground from their entrance, located at an altitude of 970 metres.
Once inside, the Hall of Crystals leaves you speechless, with a huge variety of formations among which eccentric stalactites stand out, which grow defying gravity. Added to this is the Marine Room, where ancient floods have given rise to curious coral structures.

The route allows you to enter a space where the remains of these animals that inhabited the area more than 17,000 years ago are still preserved. Around it, the limestone formations draw an underground landscape as spectacular as it is overwhelming.

CUEVA DE LAS GÜIXAS DE VILLANÚA
The Cueva de las Güixas, in Villanúa, is one of the best known and most visited in the Aragonese Pyrenees. Formed about 25,000 years ago, it offers a circular route of about 900 meters that allows you to discover how water has been shaping this space for millennia.
Beyond its natural value, this enclave stands out for its history and legends. It was a refuge since prehistoric times, served as a prison and even, according to tradition, was the scene of covens and rituals, which gives it a mysterious air that is difficult to forget.

GRUTA DE LAS MARAVILLAS DE IBDES
In the province of Zaragoza, very close to the Monasterio de Piedra, is the Grotto of the Wonders of Ibdes, one of the most accessible and curious caves in Aragon. It was formed about 50,000 years ago by the action of the Mesa River, which shaped this space over time.
The route allows you to cross two galleries of 15 and 46 meters in length, in an environment that, although smaller than other caves, surprises with the beauty of its formations.
