The Aragonese Inés Bergua, captain of the national team of gymnastics rhythmic, has once again climbed the podium with the Spanish national team. The team closed a brilliant performance at the World Cup in Milan this weekend by winning a gold medal and a bronze medal, a result that reinforces its aspirations a few months before the World Cup.
Under the guidance of national coach Alejandra Quereda and coach Ana María Pelaz, the Spanish team completed a high-level competition in Italy. First he won bronze in the all-around competition and, later, he was proclaimed champion in the five-ball final, where he signed the best exercise of the day.
BRONZE IN THE ALL-AROUND COMPETITION AND GOLD IN FIVE BALLS
Spain opened the competition with bronze in the All Around thanks to a total score of 55.850 points, obtained after adding 28.050 in the exercise of five balls and 27.800 in the exercise of three rings and two pairs of clubs. The Spanish team tied in the standings with China, who claimed silver, while Brazil took gold with 56.050 points.
On the day of the finals came the second joy for the Spanish delegation. The team led by Inés Bergua won gold in the five-ball final with a score of 28.650 points, ahead of Brazil, second with 27.500, and China, third with 27.250.
THE WORLD CUP, THE NEXT CHALLENGE
After the good results achieved in Milan, the national team is already focusing on its next major international commitment. The next stop will be the World Cup, an event in which the first Olympic places to Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) will be at stake.
