Power Experience is the new initiative of Teruel existe to value all the heritage linked to mining in the province. It would integrate the museums of Utrillas and Escucha, the thermal power plants of Escucha, Aliaga and Andorra, and the mines of Estercuel and Gargallo.

It will be presented this coming Thursday, July 16, in Escucha, with the presence of experts such as Belén Boloqui, president of Apudepa, and Fermín Aldecoa, historian and author of the book Minas y mineros de Escucha. They will also arrive in Utrillas, Aliaga and Andorra.

«We want this proposal to serve to promote, at last, a real project for the rehabilitation of mining and industrial heritage and turn it into a resource for the future, capable of generating economic activity and opportunities for the territory,» explained the spokesman for Teruel Existe, Tomás Guitarte.

NEWS ABOUT THE LISTENING CENTER

On the other hand, Tomás Guitarte has taken advantage of his appearance in the Cortes de Aragón this Tuesday to explain the latest events around the protection of the Escucha thermal power plant, highlighting the two-month stoppage of the demolition.

The leader of the party has once again insisted on the need to give a new life to this infrastructure. They submitted a request for the suspension of its demolition and its declaration as an Asset of Cultural Interest. Then the General Directorate of Heritage has paralyzed the process to study this matter until September 6 for two months.

Guitarte recalled that organizations such as Apudepa, the Official College of Architects of Aragon and, previously, the Provincial Commission of Cultural Heritage of Teruel have expressed themselves in favor of this protection.

He also shared that in October 2020 the City Council drafted an intervention report to put the plant into operation with cultural and tourist uses of a budget of 4 million euros. «Since then, construction costs have increased, although it is still a relatively affordable amount for the administration and could be financed through FITE funds,» he said.
