The castles of Aragon continue to be a meeting point for culture in rural areas. This Saturday 18 it is the turn of the Castle of Montearagón with its XXVI Folkloric Festival, which will once again turn the streets and squares of Huesca into a meeting point for music, dance and popular traditions. The festival is an event already consolidated in the cultural calendar of the capital of Huesca.
In this twenty-sixth edition, the festival will have as a guest group the San Antón Peña Huertana Folkloric Association Choirs and Dances «La Zaranda», from Murcia, which will share the stage with the host group, the Folkloric Association Estirpe de Aragonia, offering the public a sample of the richness and diversity of Spanish folklore.
The day will begin at 12:00 p.m. with the official reception of the participating groups at the Huesca City Council, where the traditional exchange of gifts between the groups will take place. Later, at 1:00 p.m., the members of the formations will visit the historic center of the city, approaching some of the main heritage enclaves of Huesca.
In the afternoon, at 7:30 p.m., music and color will take the streets with a parade that will tour the center of the city, inviting Huesca residents and visitors to enjoy the festive atmosphere that will precede the main performance. The finishing touch will come at 8:30 p.m. in the Plaza López Allué, where the performance of the participating groups will take place: «La Zaranda» and the Folkloric Association Estirpe de Aragonia.
The City Council of Huesca invites all citizens and those who visit the city during this weekend to participate in this celebration, an opportunity to enjoy the intangible heritage, learn about popular traditions and continue promoting culture as an element of encounter and coexistence.
