The Los Jardines de Andorra nursing home, which is already in operation, will be able to open its new area and expand its capacity from 31 to 50 users after receiving authorization from the Aragonese Institute of Social Services.
This was announced this Thursday by the Vice President and Minister of Deregulation, Social Welfare and Family, Alejandro Nolasco, at the Territorial Delegation of the Government of Aragon in Teruel. Nolasco recalled that on June 23 he visited the center together with the mayor of Andorra, Rafael Guía, and advanced that the procedures to launch the expansion would be expedited.
With this action, the residence will go from 31 to 50 users and will incorporate three nursing places and another six day places. The vice-president stressed that the centre has a waiting list of more than 100 people, although he specified that the date of entry of new users corresponds to the Andorra City Council.
Nolasco also alluded to the demographic situation of Aragon, where more than 300,000 people are over 65 years old. In the province of Teruel, one in four people is over that age, a reality that, as he pointed out, requires offering solutions and improving care for the elderly.
OTHER FUTURE OPENINGS
The vice-president also reviewed other actions, such as the reopening of the Social Centre for the Elderly in Sariñena, the investment of 250,000 euros in the Fonz residence, the upcoming opening of the Pina de Ebro residence with 48 places and the unblocking of 500,000 euros from the FITE to reopen the Alfambra residence. He has also defended an increase in the budget for social services and places in residences and day centers.
