The second day of the Debate on the state of the City has left two very different photographs in the Zaragoza City Council. While the non-attached councilor, Marisa Gaspar, has managed to move forward with the three proposals she defended in the Plenary, the PSOE has closed the debate without achieving sufficient support to approve any of its six initiatives. Two opposite outcomes that have marked the end of the last debate of the mandate of Natalia Chueca in which, in fact, the Popular Party has once again carried out its entire roadmap.
Despite his status as a non-attached councillor when he collected his minutes a few months ago outside the party with which he ran in the 2023 municipal elections (Vox), Gaspar has managed to approve the three proposals he brought to the Debate: the creation of a municipal support service for caregivers, the promotion of a stable opera season at the Teatro Principal and a study on the future of the municipal slaughterhouse. All of them have prospered thanks to the support of the Popular Party, the only group that has raised its hand in favor of their initiatives.
The rest of the formations have maintained the criterion of the anti-transfuguism pact and have avoided supporting any of their proposals as has been done previously with their motions in the plenary sessions. The image has also been especially significant in the case of Vox, whose spokeswoman, Eva Torres, did not even refer to the mayor during the defense of her own initiatives.
THE PSOE ARE LEFT WITHOUT ANY APPROVED PROPOSAL
The counterpoint has been led by the socialist municipal group. None of the six proposals defended by the PSOE spokeswoman, Lola Ranera, has managed to go ahead. Among them were a plan to combat heat waves in schools, measures to facilitate access to housing, aid for those affected by the works or the promotion of the future line 2 of the tram.
