The European adventure of Casademont Zaragoza already has dates marked in red. After knowing their rivals in the first phase of the Euroleague where they have fallen into the group A, the red-and-white team already knows what will be the roadmap they will have to follow to try to advance to the next round of the top European competition.
After the dispute of the preliminary phase that will be held on September 23 and 30 and that will be decided by the last member of the Casademont group between Kibirkstis Vilnius (Lithuania), AZS Poznan (Poland) and Sopron Basket (Hungary), Carlos Cantero’s team will debut in this European edition against the rival they know best within their group: Basket Landes. The French team, who faced the Aragonese team three times last season, will visit the Príncipe Felipe on October 14 when the Aragonese capital is in the middle of the Fiestas del Pilar.
Subsequently, Casademont will travel to Greece seven days after their first match to face an Athinaikos Qualco that is being reinforced with high-level players and therefore, will be an opponent to be reckoned with. On October 28, the red-and-white club will receive at the Príncipe Felipe the opponent who comes out of a preliminary phase where presumably, taking into account the level, the Hungarian Sopron could advance.
Among the first second legs of this first phase, Casademont will travel to the French on November 3 to face Basket Landes in a pavilion where they already managed to win last season. Much later and after the international break, the Aragonese club will host the Greek Athinaikos in the Aragonese capital on November 25. And they will finish the first phase by visiting the field of the team that manages to advance from the previous round on December 2.
SECOND PHASE
After playing all the matches of the first phase, the three best classified in the group will go through to the second round, dragging their record of wins and losses in a condition that means that all matches have their weight in gold and each victory counts in order to qualify later for the Final Six.
In this way, the three best teams in Group A will be mixed in a new group and will face in the second round with the three best teams in a Group B that is made up of Galatasaray (Turkey), Familia Schio (Italy), Kangoeroes Basket (Belgium) and the winner of the qualifying phase between Zabiny Brno (Czech Republic), DTVK (Hungary) and Red Star (Serbia).
