[EN] The Plaza del Pilar and Zaragoza will roar again for Spain: three screens to watch the World Cup final

After the success of the previous rounds, the City Council will install three giant screens (one main and two auxiliary) to follow the decisive duel where the Spanish team can get its second star

The Plaza del Pilar is preparing to turn again with ‘La Roja’. Zaragoza will experience a new historic night this Sunday with the broadcast of the final of the World Cup between Spain and Argentina. After the success of the previous events, the Aragonese capital will install three giant screens (one main and two auxiliary) so that thousands of fans can cheer together the Spanish national team in its fight to win the second World Cup in its history.

The response of the fans throughout the World Cup invites us to think about a new full house. The first broadcast, corresponding to the round of 16 against Portugal, brought together more than 5,000 fans at the Príncipe Felipe pavilion. Subsequently, the Plaza del Pilar brought together more than 9,000 people for the quarter-finals against Belgium and beat that figure in the semi-final against France, with more than 10,600 attendees.

The final against Argentina is a historic opportunity for the Spanish team, which will seek to lift the World Cup for the second time, sixteen years after the title won in South Africa. As it happened on that unforgettable night in 2010, the Plaza del Pilar will once again be the setting chosen by thousands of Zaragoza residents to dream of a new star.

And the party will start before the kick-off whistle. The preview will feature musical entertainment by DJ Eddy Charlez and speaker David Aso, to which will be added as the main novelty the live performance of the Zaragoza group Modelo, which will put rhythm to the hours before one of the most anticipated nights by the fans.

SPECIAL MOBILITY DEVICE

Given the forecast of a large influx of people in the center of Zaragoza, especially after the end of the match, both the Local Police and the Mobility service have coordinated a special device that will be launched throughout Sunday afternoon. From 5:00 p.m., trams will introduce double units into the service to increase their capacity. With the same objective, the urban bus will operate with the maximum number of articulated vehicles available in that time slot.

The possibility has been contemplated that, when the final ends, and by indication of the Local Police, it will be necessary to cut road traffic in Don Jaime, Plaza de España, Independencia and Echegaray y Caballero. At that time, in addition to the diversions of the affected bus lines, the tram will operate in a loop until its end time from César Augusto to Parque Goya and from Gran Vía to Valdespartera.
