Zaragoza will strengthen its network of civic centers with three new additions. The mayor, Natalia Chueca, announced this week during the City Debate that the City Council is already defining the construction projects of two facilities in Parque Goya and Parque Venecia, two neighborhoods located in the north and south of the city that have been claiming their own spaces for neighborhood activity for years. These projects will be joined earlier by the Hispanidad Civic Center, which will be able to come into operation this summer.
Civic centres are municipal facilities distributed throughout different areas of Zaragoza and intended to provide citizen participation services. Educational, cultural and social programmes are developed in them, as well as citizen service activities. Its operation is regulated by the Regulation of Civic Centers.
Beyond their programming, these buildings function as meeting places, exchange of information and relationship between neighbors, associations, collectives and groups of the city. They are spaces open to dialogue and collaboration, designed to strengthen coexistence and community life in the neighbourhoods. The network is currently made up of 22 centres, aimed at reading, listening to music, dancing, attending shows, training, playing or participating in neighbourhood activities.

ZARAGOZA WILL GO FROM 22 TO 25 CIVIC CENTERS
With the opening of the Hispanidad Civic Centre, Zaragoza will go from the current 22 centres to 23. Subsequently, the construction of the new facilities of Parque Goya and Parque Venecia will raise the figure to 25 civic centers.
The three projects will strengthen the municipal presence in neighbourhoods with very different profiles. Hispanidad will serve one of the most populated and consolidated areas of the city, while Parque Goya and Parque Venecia will have their own spaces for the first time to channel neighborhood participation and expand their cultural and social offer.
