The heat will not let up in Aragon this weekend. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) maintains the yellow warnings for maximum temperatures both this Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19 in large areas of the community.
The General Directorate of Interior and Emergencies has reported that the alerts will remain in force during the same time slot on the two days. Specifically, the warnings will be activated at 1:00 p.m. and will end at 9:00 p.m., coinciding with the period in which the highest values are expected.
UP TO 36 DEGREES IN THE THREE PROVINCES
Temperatures may reach 36 degrees in the provinces of Zaragoza and Huesca, as well as in the Teruel areas of Bajo Aragón, Albarracín and Jiloca. In this way, the warning will be extended to points in the three Aragonese provinces during the two days of the weekend.
The exception will be in the Pyrenees, where the expected maximums will be somewhat lower. In this area, thermometers may reach up to 34 degrees, although the yellow warning for high temperatures will also remain active.
THE HEAT WILL INCREASE NEXT WEEK
The weekend will also be the prelude to a new episode of especially high temperatures. The Aemet has issued a special warning this Saturday for a heat wave that is expected to begin on Tuesday, July 21 and will last at least until Thursday 23.
The Ebro valley will be one of the most affected areas. Even before the expected start of the heatwave, the Aemet expects the rise in temperatures to continue on Monday, with maximums of between 38 and 40 degrees in the Ebro valley and in the depressions of the northeast.
For Tuesday and Wednesday, the expected values in these areas will be between 39 and 41 degrees. On Thursday, initially indicated as the most intense day of the episode, the maximum could reach between 40 and 42 degrees in the Ebro valley. The Aemet also warns of very high night-time temperatures during this new episode.
