Spain will experience this Sunday a day marked by two protagonists: the final of the World Cup in which La Roja will seek its second star and an episode of very intense heat that will leave «significantly high» temperatures in much of the country. Thermometers will exceed 35 degrees in large areas of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, while in some parts of Andalusia and the southeast they will reach or exceed 40.
According to the prediction of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), maximum temperatures will experience slight increases in the northern and eastern thirds of the peninsula.
It is expected to exceed 35 degrees in the Balearic Islands and large areas of the Peninsula, except in the northwest quadrant and the Cantabrian Sea. In addition, it will be likely to exceed 40 degrees in the interior of Andalusia and the southeast of the peninsula, as well as locally in Mallorca and in the depressions of the northeast.
Minimum temperatures will remain unchanged, although increases will predominate in the northern half of the peninsula.
There will also be tropical nights in large areas of the southeastern half of the Peninsula and in the Balearic Islands, without falling below 25 degrees in parts of the Mediterranean and the Guadalquivir valley.
STABILITY IN ALMOST THE ENTIRE COUNTRY
Otherwise, stability will remain in most of Spain, with little cloudy skies and some intervals of medium and high clouds. In the Canary Islands there will be low clouds in the north of the islands.
Only in the north of Galicia and the Cantabrian area will cloudy or overcast skies predominate, with likely weak and scattered rainfall, as well as some fog banks.
POSSIBLE STORMS BEFORE THE FINAL
During the afternoon, in the hours before the World Cup final, evolving cloudiness will form that may leave occasional showers and storms in other areas of the interior of the northwest and also the eastern third of the peninsula.
In the inland regions of Murcia, the south of the Valencian Community, the southeast of Castilla-La Mancha and the north of Catalonia, these storms could be locally strong, with very strong gusts of wind and hail.
There will also be feverin the southeastern half of the Peninsula and in the Balearic Islands, as well as weakly in the Canary Islands. In the southeast, this phenomenon could cause some mud rain.
