The ultra of the Gran Trail Aneto-Posets once again offered a real sporting battle on one of the most demanding routes in the Pyrenees. The script was reproduced over its 105 km and 6,760 m positive in both races, male and female, with two protagonists who knew how to better manage their forces in the decisive sectors: Jonatan Tejada Ocejo and Raquel Casares López.
Jonatan had gone out with his brother Fernando in the team modality. However, before La Renclusa (km 20) they decided to separate. From there, managing the effort in the face of the high temperatures was the key to extend the advantage and arrive in Benasque in first place and without too much chase pressure and 16:55.49 was his time.
The script was similar in the women’s race with Mayi Mujika who stood out from the start and opened a gap of almost 50 minutes in the first loop around the Aneto.
However, the passage through Benasque (km 56) changed everything. The Basque lost steam and retired in Eriste (km 64), so the Alicante rider was left in the lead and with the ground clear. From that momenton, the race was completely decided with the partials growing at each checkpoint until Raquel Casares returned to Benasque with 21:03.18.
