[EN] About 100 elderly people evacuated by the Orés fire transferred to an unused residence in Zaragoza

The evacuees from Asín, Orés and Luesia have already spent the night at the Mimara residence and to that will be added the 45 from the Uncastillo residence

The Orés fire continues to advance intensely through different towns in the Cinco Villas. The last to be evacuated has been Uncastillo, whose neighbors are already evacuating the town. Both the users of the Uncastillo nursing home and those of Luesia, Orés and Asín have been transferred to the Mimara center in Zaragoza, a residence that is unused in the neighborhood of Las Delicias. In total, it is expected that a hundred evacuees will settle there throughout the day.

This has been explained by the vice-president of the Government of Aragon, Alejandro Nolasco, who has valued «the speed» to activate this «emergency device». In total, there are 53 evacuees from the towns that were already forced to evacuate this Wednesday (Luesia, Orés and Asín) and 45 who will be added from the town of Uncastillo. The latter are expected to arrive in the next few hours.

The elderly evicted from Orés, Luesia and Asín have already spent the night in this residence where about 40 people are working, although reinforcements have been requested upon hearing the news of the eviction of Uncastillo. «Those who have spent the night here have adapted very well. Maybe we were more nervous than they were. Even so, we have a psychologist here in case any of those who are or those who are yet to arrive need psychological assistance,» explained Miguel Márquez, president of the Mimara group.

If needed, the center could accommodate up to 270 residents on a provisional basis although, in the words of Nolasco, it is expected that the situation «will not go any further». The logistics, explained the president of the Mimara group, have been complicated because the residence was not operational because it had not even opened its doors to the public.

«It has been quite complex logistics because in the end it is an emergency situation in which we have had to speed everything up a lot and the truth is that we have done the best we could. We are putting all our effort and many resources to be able to attend to these people.» In the Mimara residence, those who will be the future employees of the center are currently working, as well as workers from the residences of the evacuated places.
