[EN] Be careful, changes in the Water Park: this is what the new «Z» Forest will be like with cherry blossoms and a meadow

The action will take place in the surroundings of the Old Equestrian Park and the Multiadventure Park

The Parque del Agua will be one of the next major green actions of the Zaragoza City Council. The council will allocate an initial investment of one million euros to renovate different infrastructures of the enclosure and create the so-called «Z» Forest, a new naturalized area with 60 pink cherry trees and a large meadow. The project is part of the measures advanced by the mayor, Natalia Chueca, during the first day of the Debate on the state of the City.

The action will take place in the surroundings of the Old Equestrian Park and the Multiadventure Park, where the Zaragoza City Council wants to recover degraded spaces and advance in the comprehensive renovation of one of the main green lungs of the city next to the Ebro River.

«We have recovered ruinous concessions such as the Aguas Bravas Canal after years of abandonment, despite the fact that it cost 6 million euros. And now in the Old Equestrian Park and the Multiadventure Park we will create the Z Forest, 60 cherry trees with pink flowers and a naturalized meadow,» said the mayor.

The first phase of the works will also include the renovation of the fountains, the waterproofing of the aqueduct, the recovery of roads and the replacement of urban furniture, with the aim of updating facilities that have been in use for almost two decades.

THE CASTILLO PALOMAR PARK WILL ALSO BE RENOVATED

The announcement of the Water Park is completed with other actions planned by the City Council in green spaces of the city. Among them is the preparation of a Master Plan for the Palomar Castle Park, which will allow planning its comprehensive remodeling, as well as a management plan for the Montes de Torrero, where the Consistory plans to invest more than four million euros over the next decade to improve the conservation of the Pinares de Venecia.

In addition, Chueca has advanced his intention to expand the network of climate shelters in Zaragoza to deal with heat waves. The aim is for the new street and square projects to incorporate shaded areas, fountains and refreshment spaces, while progressively transforming children’s play areas into bioclimatic shelters, starting with an action in each neighbourhood.
