[EN] Pablo Bautista and Leire Fernández return to conquer the Tucas Marathon for the second consecutive year

The marathon race of the Gran Trail Aneto-Posets has been won by the two favorite runners who already managed to win the race in 2025

The Tucas Marathon, the 42-kilometre race of the Gran Trail Aneto-Posets, has been exciting despite the fact that the two favourites in each category, Pablo Bautista and Leire Fernández, revalidated their crowns achieved in 2025.

At 8:00 a.m. the 938 participants departed from Avenida de los Tilos in Benasque. The route surrounds the Tucas de Ixeia (2,840 m), passing through emblematic places such as the lakes of Batisielles, the Espigantosa waterfall or the town of Cerler.

Bautista, who had started leading the race, was overtaken by Teruel’s Germán Castel on the descent to Eriste (km 32.9), but his dominance ended on the last climb to the Molino de Cerler (km 37.7), where the Spaniard arrived with his legs and pushed until he was proclaimed champion again with a time of 4:34:56. Castel (4:38:21) immediately crossed the finish line, while the promising Javier Vives Barreda (4:40:56) did not lose ground throughout the race until he climbed to the third step of the podium.

If the men’s race was an ode to equality, the women’s race had an owner and mistress from the beginning to the end, the great Leire Fernández Abete. The Gipuzkoanled the race without looking back, extending her lead at every checkpoint she went through. He stopped the clock after 5:35:51. There was a fight for second position, with Anayet Gracia Campo (6:17:08) and Silvia García Orgiles (6:18:10) performing a progressive exercise and running practically together throughout the second half of the race.

The race is still standing and the participants who have not yet reached the finish line have a deadline of 10:00 p.m. this Saturday to complete the marathon.
