There are sounds that are part of the memory of a people. In Biscarrués, one of them is that of the bells of the parish church, which for decades have marked the rhythm of the lives of its neighbors, announcing parties, celebrations and also farewells. That sound is one step closer to returning. It was this Sunday when the inhabitants of Biscarrués participated in an event in which they saw the bells of their church restored and pre-blessed before they return to their original place.
The most spectacular image will come tomorrow, when a large crane will raise the four bells to the bell tower of the church. Some of them exceed oneton in weight, so the operation will become one of the most anticipated moments of the project and an event for the municipality.
The parish priest of Biscarrués, José Ignacio Martínez, stressed that the restoration represents «the example of a united people that works to preserve its heritage», while thanking the involvement of all the neighbors who have contributed to carry out the initiative.
Beyond their religious value, the bells are part of the identity of Biscarrués. For generations they have accompanied the day-to-day life of the municipality and their restoration will allow to recover both its original sound and an important element of the local historical heritage.
THE DAY THE BELLS WILL RING AGAIN
The program will culminate on August 1 with a festive day in which the bells will be officially inaugurated. The event will include his blessing, the performance of the Biscarrués Choir, the first bandeo after the restoration and a popular afternoon with migas and different activities to celebrate that, after a long time, the town will once again hear one of its most recognizable sounds.
Although the project is practically completed,the parish maintains an open donation campaign to complete the financing of the restoration and invites neighbors, former inhabitants and visitors to participate in events that want to turn the recovery of the bells into a collective celebration of the heritage and memory of the municipality.
