The Festival Monegros will once again move thousands of people by road and the DGT already has one of the most sensitive areas of Aragón. The resolution published in the Official State Gazette with the special traffic measures for 2026 includes specific restrictions on the N-2 on the occasion of the event, one of the most popular musical events of the summer.
The measure affects the section of the N-2 between Peñalba and Fraga, in the province of Huesca, a key road for travel to the festival site and for mobility in Los Monegros. According to the BOE, the restriction will be applied during Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July, coinciding with the special device planned by Traffic.
This is not a recommendation: the DGT will be able to limit traffic in that section to improve road safety and avoid problems of fluidity in an area where thousands of journeys are concentrated every year in a few hours.
THE ROAD AFFECTED BY THE MONEGROS FESTIVAL
The BOE expressly indicates the N-2 between kilometre points 394.5, in Peñalba, and 431, in Fraga. The restriction is linked to the Monegros Festival and will be applied in both directions.
The scheduled schedules are:
- Saturday 25 July: from 08.00 to 24.00
- Sunday 26 July: from 00.00 to 20.00

This means that for a good part of the weekend traffic may be conditioned in one of the main road accesses to the festival area.
WHY THE DGT RESTRICTS TRAFFIC IN MONEGROS
The objective of these special measures is to guarantee road safety and avoid collapses at times of high mobility. In mass events such as Monegros, the concentration of vehicles, buses, taxis, emergency services and pedestrians forces specific controls to be established.
The N-2 is a particularly important road in the area of Fraga and Peñalba, so any sudden increase in traffic can cause traffic jams, dangerous manoeuvres or complications at the entrances.
WHAT DRIVERS SHOULD TAKE INTO ACCOUNT
Drivers who plan to circulate in this area during the weekend of the festival must pay attention to the DGT signage, the information panels and the indications of the agents.
It is also advisable to plan your trip in advance, check the traffic conditions before leaving andavoid the hours of greatest concentration of vehicles, especially during the arrival at the venue and the departure of the festival.
