The Aneto-Posets Vertical Kilometer, the first race to be held in the Great Trail Aneto-Posets, has had to modify its development this Thursday due to the adverse weather conditions recorded in the area. Shortly after the departure of the first participants from Llanos del Hospital, a storm with strong electrical equipment, coinciding with the activation of the orange alert, has forced the organization to stop the test.
Once the storm has subsided and the conditions have allowed the activity to resume, the runners have been able to take the start again, although this time on a reduced route. The finish line has finally been set at the planned refreshment point at Casa Cabellut, after 3.2 km and 600 m positive, avoiding ascending to the top of Pico Salvaguardia (2,736 m).
Since some participants had been affected by the interruption of the race, the organization has decided not to hold the official podiums. Despite this, the test classifications are available for consultation and reflect the times
registered by the participants on the route finally disputed.
RESULTS
The fastest, repeating his triumph of 2025, has been Mario Prades Castillo (25:07). «It was a race with some uncertainty, due to the weather situation, although when we started the storm had already completely passed. In the first section I managed to stick to Iván and in the end I saw that I had one more point and I pushed. As it was shorter than last year, we went full throttle,» explained the Teruel-born player. The second best time was for Álvaro Osanz Laborda (26:03) and the third for Iván Calvo Vigara himself (26:41).

Among the girls, Eva Sierras Codina (33:46) was the fastest to reach the new finish line, followed by Patricia Villanueva Baselga (35:36) and María de la Torre Celades (36:16). «Although I had come on holiday, it was my first time competing here, so I’m very happy. Despite the shortening of the route, I continued on my own to the top and I found it to be an incredible track. I hope to be able to return next year to do it completely,» said the winner, who comes from Elda (Alicante) with a large group of teammates from her club.
The cadet category, whose route already ended at the aforementioned refreshment station, has been able to be held without affecting the weather and Mateo Santolaria Mustafá (27:36) and Telma López Mendez (39:01) have been proclaimed the winning cadets.
THE TRAIL RUNNING PARTY
Despite the difficulties, with the Vertical Kilometre the curtain has risen on the thirteenth of the Gran Trail Trangoworld Aneto-Posets (Gttap). From now on, the attention will move to the town of Benasque, where throughout the weekend the almost 4,000 registered participants of the event will parade and will participate in the five remaining tests.
