The fire declared in the municipality of Orés, in the Cinco Villas, is still active and at level 2 after a «very difficult and complex night with eratic winds«. This was pointed out by the Minister of the Interior, Finance and Public Administration, Roberto Bermúdez de Castro, after the Cecopi meeting early this morning.
The fire has already burned more than 4,500 hectares, mainly of «crops, scrub and forest mass». The operation has achieved afruitful evolution in sectors 2 and 4, although the fire continues to open onthe left flank so the troops «focus their efforts on consolidating and strengthening the perimeter».
For the moment, the municipalities of Orés, Asín, Luesia and Malpica de Arba remain evacuated. «About 80 people are staying in the Ejea de los Caballeros sports center or with relatives,» said the minister. In addition, De Castro also pointed out that «we have evacuated three residences in Orés, with 13 people, Asín with 15 people and Loesia with 30 people». In addition, the municipalities of Uncastillo and Biel are on notice as they could be evicted.
In this sense, the weather forecast points to south-easterly winds of between 30 and 40 km/h, with a change to a north-westerly component at the end of the day. This has been pointed out by the Minister of the Interior, «from tonight, it will enter north, which will completely change where the fire is going. And we have to reinforce the right flank so as not to be careful with this change of wind.»
The operation continues to be fully deployed, with all the means of INFOAR, the support of MITECO, the Military Emergency Unit (UME), the Firefighters of the Provincial Council of Zaragoza, the Firefighters of the Zaragoza City Council, the Firefighters of Navarra and media from Castilla y León, La Rioja and the Valencian Community. Likewise, the incorporation of resources from Catalonia is being evaluated.
THE FIRE HAS REACHED THE MUNICIPALITIES OF ASÍN AND ORÉS
As reported by the Government of Aragón, the fire has reached the urban area of Asín and has affected a dozen homes. Three have interior damage and one has been seriously damaged. There were no people inside the buildings, since the municipality had been previously evacuated.
In Orés the flames have also affected the urban area tonight. In this municipality, ten homes have been affected, three quite affected and one very affected. In this sense, the Minister of the Interior has also reported that «in the town of Ores, firefighters from the Infoar Brigade, the UME and the Provincial Council of Zaragoza have been surrounded by the fire, they have had to leave quickly because the fire was reaching them and even some of their vehicles have significant damage due to thermal load». De Castro concluded.
