The third phase of the Navarra Avenue has taken a decisive step towards becoming a reality this Thursday. The Plenary of the Zaragoza City Council has approved declaring this action as a priority work and initiating the emergency procedures to tender as soon as possible the new collector and the improvement of the drainage, with the aim of avoiding flooding which for years have affected residents and garages in the area when heavy rains occur.
The proposal, defended by Vox during the second day of the Debate on the state of the City, has gone ahead with the support of the Popular Party and PSOE and it has become one of the main initiatives approved by Eva Torres’ party. The spokeswoman has justified the urgency of the action by appealing to the safety of the neighbors and recalled that the strong storms have already caused significant effects in this environment.
AVOIDING A POSSIBLE MISFORTUNE
During the defense of the initiative, Torres has assured that the city cannot wait «for something serious to happen» to act. The spokeswoman recalled the floods recorded in different parts of Zaragoza during episodes of torrential rains and warned that flooded garages, homes with access problems or out-of-service lifts are common on Navarra Avenue.
The action on Navarra Avenue has been one of the five Vox initiatives that have received the go-ahead in the Plenary Hall of the Zaragoza City Council in this Debate on the State of the City. The promotion of the air conditioning of schools and institutes, the preparation of a Strategic Plan for Metropolitan Mobility Zaragoza 2050, a municipal strategy to adapt the treatment to European regulations and an initiative to transfer to the City Council the model of national priority in access to protected housing promoted by the Government of Aragon have also prospered.
