A 30% increase in capacity to carry out theoretical driving licence exams, a permanent road safety education room and fifteen posts for citizen service in different modalities. These are some of the details of what will be the new Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Zaragoza that will open at the Expo around «the end of autumn», in the words of the delegate of the Government of Aragon, Fernando Beltrán. This new headquarters will replace the one on Vía Univérsitas where the Headquarters operated until now and represents «a significant improvement» in citizen service, said Beltrán.
With an investment of more than 1.7 million, the new Headquarters is located at Avenida de Ranillas number 63, where this Tuesday the advanced state of the work could be observed. For now, all that remains is to furnish the facilities, which have a total area of 2,577 square meters.
The headquarters will have seven face-to-face service stations, six positions for the assisted use of the DGT electronic office and a specific telecare post. «It is a modern Headquarters adapted to the current times with first-class attention to citizens, waiting times will be reduced and above all the quality of care. It is a spacious and comfortable place,» said the Government delegate in Aragon, Fernando Beltrán.
For the time being, it will be from September when the officials will begin to move to the new headquarters gradually, so some windows will still remain open on Vía Univérsitas. It is estimated that by «late autumn, early winter» that full attention can be given.
MORE ROOM FOR THEORETICAL EXAMS
One of the great advantages of the new headquarters is the expansion of the computerized classroom where the theoretical exams of the driving license are carried out. This will have capacity for 45 applicants, an increase of 30% compared to the previous one. It will allow up to 6,300 tests to be carried out per month.
It will be complemented with a permanent road safety education room, an assembly hall equipped for the celebration, recording and real-time broadcasting of events, a space adapted for the parking of bicycles and personal mobility vehicles and a backup generator for the Provincial Headquarters and the Traffic Management Center.
This new Headquarters is installed in the same building where the Traffic Management Center is located. «The General Directorate of Traffic already announced at the time the intention to use this entire building and to transfer the different dependencies and facilities it has to the Expo,» explained Beltrán.
