When the heat is pressing, there is nothing like escaping to a corner where crystal clear water gushes between mountains and good food is guaranteed. In the province of Teruel, there is a place that brings together both things: spectacular natural pools to spend the day soaking and a restaurant with the recognition of a Repsol sun to enjoy a good meal. A well-rounded plan for those looking for nature, gastronomy and disconnection, all in one.

Summer weekends are filled with visitors looking for the river corners of this environment, nestled in one of the most beautiful and least crowded regions of Aragón, the Matarraña. But this destination is not just for bathing enthusiasts: hikers, gourmets and those travelling in search of charming villages will find much more here than they expected. It’s not just a place to escape the heat, it’s one of those places that sticks with you.

BECEITE, THE TOWN OF TERUEL WITH NATURAL POOLS

Beceite, in the Matarraña region, is famous for its natural environment, where rivers have shaped spectacular bathing areas over time. Although bathing is forbidden in the Beceite reedbed, its route is one of the most beautiful in Aragon: a route of wooden walkways, tunnels dug into the rock and transparent waters that meander between canyons.

For those looking to cool off, there are other pools in Beceite where bathing is allowed, such as those of the Ulldemó River, in the area of La Pesquera. Here the scenery is just as impressive and the crystal clear water invites you to dive surrounded by mountains. It is a perfect place to spend the day with the family, enjoy a picnic or simply rest in the shade of the trees.

EL RESTAURANTE DE BECEITE CON UN SOL REPSOL

The experience in Beceite would not be complete without a good meal. The Fábrica de Solfa restaurant, located in a restored old paper mill by the river, has been recognized with a Repsol sun for its innovative cuisine based on local products. With views of the natural surroundings and a welcoming atmosphere, it is an essential stop for lovers of good food.

Its menu highlights various dishes and menus that reinterpret the tradition of Matarraña with a contemporary approach. One of them is the Summer 2026 Factory Menu, priced at 38 euros, which begins with a welcome appetizer, followed by a salmon tartare with avocado marinated in soy and a Duroc pork carpaccio with boletus edulis, honey, mustard and extra virgin olive oil. As a main course, diners can choose between a spicy dish with hanut or baked sea bass with piparra emulsion. The menu ends with a cheesecake accompanied by pistachio coulis.

For those who want a more complete gastronomic experience, the restaurant proposes the Solfa Menu – Gourmet Stories Summer 2026, for 58 euros. This culinary tour includes a welcome aperitif, tomato soup with rosemary lemon ice cream, salmon tartare with avocado marinated in soy, wild cod caught on the hook with vegetables from the garden, Pyritaurus meluc with potato parmentier, lemon cream on meringue with lemon ice cream and, as a final touch, the cheesecake with pistachio coulis.

Both menus include bread, water and coffee service, can be accompanied by the Solfa Pairing for a supplement of 35 euros and are served to a full table, so it is not possible to share them. The gastronomic experience lasts approximately two hours.

WHAT TO SEE IN BECEITE

Beyond the water and gastronomy, Beceite preserves a charming historic centre. Its cobbled streets, theancient portal of San Roque, the church of San Bartolomé and the stone bridge over the Matarraña are just some of the corners that invite you to get lost without haste. The town has managed to maintain its essence without giving up quality tourism.

In addition to the Beceite reedbed, there are signposted routes for hikers and cyclists, bird watching areas and cultural activitiesthroughout the year. The proximity of other charming villages such as Valderrobres, Calaceite or La Fresneda means that a getaway to Beceite can become a complete route through Matarraña.

HOW TO GET TO BECEITE

Beceite is located in the northeast of the province of Teruel. From Zaragoza, the journey by car takes about two and a half hours, taking the A-68 to Alcañiz and then along the N-232 and the A-1414 to Valderrobres, from where you take a detour to Beceite. It can also be reached from Tortosa or Tarragona in less than two hours.

There is no direct train or bus, so it is advisable to go in your own vehicle to move freely around the area. The roads are good and the route offers landscapes of great beauty. Beceite is, without a doubt, one of those destinations that are worth the trip.

Whether it’s to bathe in the pools of Beceite, walk through the Beceite reedbed or enjoy a meal in the Repsol sun at Fábrica de Solfa, this corner of Teruel has everything to become your favourite summer getaway.
