A year after heavy machinery made an appearance on the N-232 as it passes through Utebo, and an even longer period of petitions and even protests demanding changes from the residents, the town of Zaragoza already has the citizen promenade that it wanted so much. What was once an old and lackluster road for vehicles has become just another avenue in the town, with green spaces and a large pedestrian area, whose remodeling «has been a breath of fresh air for Utebo«.
The urban integration of the N-232, popularly known as the carretera de Logroño, has completely changed the face of the fifth largest town in Aragon. And most of its neighbors cannot hide their joy that one of the historical demands of the municipality has become a reality. This is the case of María José and José Manuel, daily users of this section of the N-232. «It was a more than necessary work for a town like Utebo,» they value.
A CONTRAST THAT NEEDED TO BE ACTED UPON
Both are residents of Utebo for more than 40 years and agree that «the entrance to the urban area was not in accordance with the relevance of the town». María José thinks that the Zaragoza town had evolved much faster than her passing road. «There was an incomprehensible contrast. Utebo is a town that has grown a lot in recent years and has been modernizing according to that growth, however, the N-232 remained old and deteriorated,» he considers.
