Vox defends that the reform announced by the vice-president of Aragón, Alejandro Nolasco, of the Aragonese Complementary Benefit of the Minimum Vital Income to require legal residence in the autonomous community, instead of the effective one, serves to provide it with «greater security juridical».
Its spokesman in the Cortes de Aragón, Santiago Morón, has pointed out that the Aragonese basic income «currently does not explicitly recognize that legal residence in Spain is a requirement, as does the Law that regulates the IMV». «The PACIMV Law is causing a pull effect,» he analyzed.
«Illegals should not receive payments that come out of our pockets,» said Morón, who explained that they seek not to «chronicle» situations such as that «more than 50% of the 1,100 immigrants who receive the aid corresponding to the IMV supplement (ICSS) have been collecting it for more than four years,» according to the Ministry of Deregulation, Social Welfare and Family.
Morón recalled that on December 9, 2021, the VOX parliamentary group already presented an initiative after the approval of the current PACIMV Law to «correct nonsense and that legal residence in Spain is required in the law, not only the effective one, as warned by the Consultative Council of Aragon». VOX’s proposal in that legislature had the support of the parliamentary groups of PP and Ciudadanos.
