More than 450 personnel are currently working to extinguish the fire declared this Wednesday in the Cinco Vilas, which has already destroyed more than 15,000 hectares and has led to the eviction of more than a thousand residents. Among the means displaced are the Firefighters of the City of Zaragoza, who have been working to stop the advance of the fire since it was declared.
Specifically, 16 troops and seven municipal vehicles have gone to the scene, coordinated from the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (CECOPI) of the Government of Aragón, located in the room of 112. At the moment, the municipal troops are focusing their efforts on the defence of the town of Luesia and on the control of possible effects on livestock farms. The strategy planned for the day is to continue protecting the population centers assigned by the emergency management.
The head of intervention of the Fire Department of the Zaragoza City Council, Carlos Coll, explained that, at present, efforts are mainly focused on protecting sector 6, especially the urban area of the towns in the area. «It is what we are going to focus all our attention on,» he said.
