[EN] Alert through a WhatsApp chain about an alleged sexual aggressor in Zaragoza: this is confirmed by the National Police

A WhatsApp chain has been going through different groups of Zaragoza with a warning that has generated concern among neighbors, especially among those who usually go for a walk or run in La Almozara and the surroundings of the Parque del Agua. The message warns of the alleged presence of a «serial sexual aggressor» to whom it attributes three attacks in less than two weeks and recommends extreme precautions, especially during the early morning.

The text that is being forwarded provides numerous details about the alleged attacks and even goes so far as to physically describe the alleged aggressor. However, much of this information has not been able to be verified. Sources from the National Police consulted by ARAGÓN DIGITAL do confirm that there are several complaints that are being investigated by the Family and Women’s Care Unit (UFAM), but they cannot determine if the facts would be related to each other or if there would be the same person behind them.

The origin of the chain that has spread through WhatsApp is also unknown. The National Police does not confirm that there are three victims, that the attacks occurred in the places and circumstances described in the message or that there is a single suspect. As it is an open investigation, the UFAM maintains secrecy about the details of the proceedings.

IT IS NOT CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS «A SERIAL AGGRESSOR»

According to the messages that are circulating, the first of the alleged attacks would have occurred around 8:30 a.m. in the Parque del Agua. The victim, always according to the account spread by WhatsApp, would have been dragged about 200 meters through the area before being sexually assaulted. The second episode would take place at 9.30 am on the La Almozara footbridge and the third, allegedly occurred on Wednesday, around 6.00, behind the neighbourhood health centre.

The messages describe a black person about 1.80 meters tall, with an athletic build and a shaved head. They also assure that he would dress «fixed» and that he could be living on one of the bridges in the area. In another version of the same notice, which has been released accompanied by an image, it is stated that the three victims would have been strangled or suffocated before the attacks and that one of them would be around 60 years old.

All these details, it should be remembered, correspond exclusively to the messages that are being forwarded and have not been confirmed by the National Police. The police sources consulted do confirm that UFAM is investigating several complaints of sexual assaults, but they cannot specify whether they are one or more people or publicly relate these complaints to the episodes described in the chain. The investigation remains open.
