A woman has been arrested in Huesca accused of using for about six months the bank card of an elderly man she had cared for and charging more than 6,700 euros in purchases and personal expenses, including aesthetic treatments. The National Police attributes to the investigated a crime of fraud after reconstructing dozens of operations carried out even after the death of the account holder.
The investigation began when the man’s daughter and the administrator of the estate reviewed his bank transactions and detected numerous charges made with one of his cards. Both brought the facts to the attention of the National Police Station of Huesca, from where the agents began to follow the trail of the operations.
The investigations pointed to a woman who had worked as a caregiver for the elderly man. According to the police investigation, she would have taken advantage of the relationship of trust she had with him to get hold of his bank card while the man was hospitalized. The old man later passed away, but the charges did not stop.
PAYMENTS IN SHOPS AND AESTHETIC TREATMENTS
For approximately six months, the woman would have repeatedly used the card to pay in different establishments and face different personal expenses. Among the operations analysed by the investigators are also payments for aesthetic treatments.
The total of fraudulent charges detected exceeds 6,700 euros. Once the evidence was gathered, the agents arrested the woman as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of fraud and referred the proceedings to the judicial authority.
