Ansó will once again become next Sunday, August 30, the great showcase of traditional Aragonese clothing with the celebration of the LV edition of the Ansotano Costume Day, one of the most unique cultural and ethnographic manifestations of the Aragonese Pyrenees.
The main novelty of this edition will be the recovery of the balconies of the Ansó City Council, which will once again host traditional clothing during the celebration. After being closed and inaccessible for two years due to the state of conservation of its structure, the consistory undertook last May the necessary works to guarantee its safety and recover this image so linked to the festival.
The intervention has included a structural reinforcement and consolidation project, especially necessary due to the age of the construction and the significant loads that the balconies must support during a day that brings together numerous residents and visitors every year. During the execution of the work, the wrought iron railings, the ornamental elements and all the exterior carpentry of the City Council have been restored and rebuilt. These refurbishment works have been carried out thanks to the Works and Services Plan of the Huesca Provincial Council and have involved an investment of approximately 75,000 euros.
It should be remembered that the façade of the Town Hall responds to the traditional Pyrenean style where the balconies follow the aesthetics of the Aragonese Pyrenees, harmoniously integrated into a large façade where exposed stone and ashlar masonry predominate. The balconies are mainly made of worked noble wood and have a robust slab that protrudes from the wall of the town hall. As for its layout, its design features a large continuous balcony that covers a large part of the main central façade, allowing a wide view of the square.
With this performance, the balconies of the façade of the consistory, located in the Plaza Domingo Miral, regain their prominence in a celebration that has in them one of its most recognizable scenarios. The neighbors dressed in the different modalities of the Ansotano costume will once again look out of them to greet the public and show a clothing that is one of the most unique and best preserved examples of traditional European clothing.

The Day of the Ansotano Costume stars in the ONCE coupon on Monday, August 31. Five million coupons will spread these typical costumes from the Huesca town of Ansó. Blanca Alfonso, mayor of Ansó, and Mª. Pilar Calvo, director of the ONCE Agency in Huesca, accompanied by Ruth Quintana, vice-president of the Territorial Council, have been in charge of presenting this coupon.
