The Day of the Ansotano Costume stars in the ONCE coupon on Monday, August 31. Five million coupons will spread these typical costumes from the Huesca town of Ansó. Blanca Alfonso, mayor of Ansó, and Mª. Pilar Calvo, director of the ONCE Agency in Huesca, accompanied by Ruth Quintana, vice-president of the Territorial Council, have been in charge of presenting this coupon.
During the event, the mayor of Ansó, Blanca Alfonso, said she was very grateful to ONCE for choosing this reason for the national coupon. «To see that the ethnographic heritage represented by our Ansotanos costumes is going to travel, thanks to ONCE, to all corners of our country, is an enormous joy,» he said.
«With this cultural dissemination of our heritage, the effort that day by day and year after year is made by a group of women and men both in the municipal wardrobe and in the preparation of scenarios and necessary infrastructures, so that we can enjoy the party, is valued,» added the mayor.
The presentation ceremony was attended by a number of residents to purchase the ONCE ticket. It should be remembered that Ansó celebrates the Day of the Typical Ansotano Costume on the last Sunday of August. During it, its inhabitants recreate typical customs and daily tasks of yesteryear dressed in traditional costumes. It is a celebration declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest since 2011 and, previously, a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest since 2002.
