A police checkpoint near the border between Spain and France has led to the arrest of three people who were allegedly part of a criminal group dedicated to committingthefts in different Spanish cities. The agents of the Canfranc Mobile Controls Unit found in the vehicle in which they were traveling allegedly stolen products valued at more than 6,000 euros.

The intervention took place during one of the devices that this unit of the National Police usually carries out on roads near the border to prevent cross-border crime. The agents identified the three occupants of the car, all of them of Peruvian origin and in an irregular situation in Spain, and proceeded to inspect the vehicle.

Inside they found perfumes, colognes, beauty products, sportswear and footwear. Many of the items retained the commercial labels and even the anti-theft devices of the establishments. According to the National Police, the occupants were unable to explain in a coherent manner the origin of the merchandise or prove that they had acquired it legitimately.

The agents also located bags with double bottoms prepared to make it difficult to activate the alarms, as well as tools and material that, according to the investigation, were intended to manipulate or disable the anti-theft devices. The police checks also determined that the three identified had a history of crimes against property, mainly theft, committed in different parts of Spain.
