The way we enjoy art has changed radically in recent years. The evolution of technology allows what was once a simple painting, graffiti or mural to now become a work that does not remain static, but changes shape as if it were taking on a living moment. A town in Huesca that has one of its main attractions in its street murals has wanted to give a twist to these works so that viewers can enjoy them like never before.

The Binéfar City Council has taken another step forward in its quest to transform and improve the cultural experience through technology. The municipality of the region of La Litera has launched a project to digitize its route of murals and sculptures and turn this particular open-air museum into a more interactive, accessible and attractive tour for those who visit it.

During the last few years, the streets of Binéfar have been filled with great works made by different artists. Large-format murals and sculptures have been shaping an artistic heritage that has become one of the hallmarks of the municipality and one of its cultural attractions.

Now, that journey makes the leap to the digital environment. The project, developed by DSmartCities, seeks to incorporate different technological tools so that consulting the works, meeting their authors and discovering the artistic heritage of Binéfar is a much more complete experience.

A MAP TO DISCOVER THE MURALS

One of the novelties will be the creation of an interactive map in which the different works distributed throughout the municipality will be geolocated. In this way, residents and tourists will be able to locate the murals and sculptures and organize the tour according to their interests.

The platform will also gather information on each of the creations and their authors, as well as multimedia content, downloadable materials and educational and participatory proposals. The aim is for the visitor not to limit themselves to contemplating the works, but to be able to learn more about the history behind them.

MURALS COME TO LIFE WITH YOUR MOBILE PHONE

Several of the selected works will incorporate augmented reality experiences in three dimensions. With the mobile phone as a tool, those who travel the route will be able to discover digital elements superimposed on the murals themselves, with characters, animations and other interactive content. The first of these experiences was launched this Thursday, whose presentation was carried out by The Drumkeys, a groove jazz group that offered a concert at the mural on Tamarite Street.
