Tribute to Lorca, dance, exhibition of an American artist and vermouth: this Saturday’s free cultural plan in Zaragoza

This Saturday Luna Roja’s studio in San José opens with a program that takes you from performance to discovering a unique exhibition

Zaragoza has been filled with color in August thanks to the #estonoesarco initiative. Every Saturday of the month, seven artists’ studios in the city will open their doors to the public as part of the second edition of the project. An initiative promoted by the Zaragoza artist and cultural manager Sergio Muro that seeks to bring contemporary creation closer to citizens from the very space where it was born.

The initiative was born with a clear objective: to give greater visibility to local creators and turn their workshops into meeting points where the public can learn first-hand about the creative processes and talk to artists in a close environment.

The first Saturday has already taken place in the David Giménez Vortex Space, where visitors were able to enjoy two exhibitions. The first, by Maribel Moratilla, and the second by Chuny Vera, in addition to delighting the visitors with the performance Minas, by Lourdes Serrano, Elisa Berna, David Giménez and Javier escudero. The second Saturday was a total success with Jorge Aliaga’s cyanotype workshop at Un Taller Azul, the closing of the exhibition «la vie tragique des monts» and tapas at Toho Japan. And there are still 3 more Saturdays in August to enjoy. And in the third, visitors were able to get to know Alonso Márquez’s studio up close.

A SATURDAY WITH TRIBUTE TO LORCA

This time in the San José neighborhood there will be a unique event thanks to #estonoesarco. More specifically it will be on Miguel Servet Street, in the premises number 27 and there we can find the place where Luna Roja is, Paloma Marina’s studio. The morning will have activities of all kinds and for all audiences and also a time for lovers of the poet Federico García Lorca.

To begin with, the organizer of this successful event, Sergio Muro, will give a Performance workshop, one of the areas where he usually moves. In addition to also painting and writing performances that leave no one indifferent and here we can discover how.

At 12.30 p.m. the tribute to Lorca «De sangre y flor» will begin, the performance will be made by a Cuban poet Antonio Miranda with the dance of Paloma Miranda. «Between the sugar of Cuba and the blood of Granada. Discover the inner universe of Federico García Lorca in a visceral journey that fuses the poetic word with the intensity of dance-theater and Butoh», this is how they present it on their social networks.

And finally, at 1:00 p.m., next to a vermouth, the exhibition of the artist Chris Healy will take place. The American, based in Zaragoza, presents this exhibition under the name of «Halley’s Comet and other stories».

30 ARTISTS AND 5 NEIGHBORHOODS TO DISCOVER

The programme has brought together some thirty artists from different disciplines, including several international creators based in Zaragoza, such as the French Mls, the German Kristina Jennessen, the American Chris Healey or the Cuban Antonio Miranda.

The participating studios are spread throughout the neighborhoods of Las Fuentes, Arrabal, San José, La Paz and Movera, taking cultural activity beyond the city center and turning these spaces into showcases for local talent during the month of August.

One of the main attractions of #estonoesarco is precisely the possibility of accessing the place where artists develop their work, discovering their techniques, learning about the origin of their works and dialoguing directly with them, an unusual experience in traditional exhibition circuits.

All activities will be free and free of charge, although the workshops will require prior registration until full capacity is reached. With this, the initiative aims to continue creating new audiences for contemporary art and strengthen the city’s cultural network also during the summer.
