Before the Tarazona festivities, a blow to drug trafficking: two arrested and a point of sale dismantled

The Civil Guard has also seized tools, jewelry, watches and religious objects, which, apparently, would have been used as a form of payment to acquire the drug.

The Guardia Civil has dismantled a drug sales point in Tarazona and has arrested two men aged 69 and 22 as allegedly responsible for several crimes. The action has been carried out a few days before the start of the patron saint festivities of the town and has allowed the intervention of small quantities of hashish, marijuana and cocaine, as well as numerous objects whose origin is being investigated.

The operation, called «HOYAS», began in July due to the suspicion that a house in Tarazona could be used for the sale of narcotic substances. The information collected by different units of the Civil Guard, with the collaboration of the Local Police, made it possible to gather evidence about the activity that was allegedly carried out in the property and identify its possible perpetrators.

TWO SEARCHES OF THE SUSPECTS’ HOMES

On Monday, August 24, the agents searched the homes of the two investigated. Inside they located several doses of hashish, marijuana and cocaine, as well as a compressed air gun and numerous objects that could come from illicit activities.

Among the seized items were tools, jewelry, watches, antique cutlery, silver coins and coins from different countries, candlesticks and religious objects, which, apparently, would have been used as a form of payment to acquire the drug. The Civil Guard continues to investigate the origin of all this material.

During one of the searches, the agents also found a card-like device that concealed a short firearm. According to the Civil Guard, the object also had a small space to house live ammunition.

The two detainees, of Spanish and Moroccan nationality and with police records, are charged with alleged crimes against public health for drug trafficking, against property, money laundering, receipt and membership of a criminal group. One of them is also charged with an alleged crime of illegal possession of weapons. They were brought to justice on the same day of their arrest.

POSSIBLE OBJECTS STOLEN FROM A CHURCH

The Civil Guard is keeping the investigation open to determine the origin of the rest of the seized effects. Among them are several religious pieces that could come from a robbery committed inside a church in Tarazona in April 2025.
