The Provincial Council of Teruel has mobilized machinery to repair the roads and tracks of Cantavieja affected by the strong storm of August 15, which left more than 100 liters per square meter in the municipality. The main damage is concentrated on the roads that connect the town with Mirambel and Mosqueruela and on other roads that lead to inhabited farmhouses.
The president of the provincial institution, Joaquín Juste, has verified the damage during a visit to Cantavieja, accompanied by the mayor, Ricardo Altabás. The Provincial Council already deployed emergency teams shortly after the storm to remove the landslides that blocked the tracks and now continues with the work with two trucks, a rotating machine and a mixed machine.
Juste has also been able to check the works that have already been carried out and those that are still underway. Thestorm forced the removal of landslides and repairs to the asphalted roads that connect Cantavieja with Mosqueruela and Cantavieja with Tronchón, with the aim of facilitating normal traffic on these tracks, especially used during the summer period.
THE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL WILL ALSO PERFORM IN MIRAMBEL
The action seeks to «provide service as soon as possible», since these roads are used by the neighbors to access their inhabited farmhouses, as well as orchards and livestock facilities. The provincial institution also plans to act in Mirambel, where the storm caused damage to several river crossings that will be tried to «rebuild as soon as possible».
«Speed is important,» Juste stressed. The president has assured that, to the extent that the Provincial Council can have the means, it acts «quickly and urgently, because the territory needs it». The Provincial Council of Teruel thus provides support to the municipalities when storms cause damage to the roads, since the municipalities do not have sufficient means to face this type of action.
In addition to the works in Cantavieja and Mirambel, the provincial institution also plans to intervene for the damage caused by the storms in Castelserás, Valdealgorfa and Alcañiz, towns affected by last weekend’s rains.
