[EN] Jaca hosts a solidarity concert after the fires: «It has given me hope to see so much cooperation»

The concert, which will have a capacity of approximately 150 people, will raise money entirely for the recovery of the fauna

The solidarity arises in particularly complicated times. This has been demonstrated day by day and town by town throughout this summer due to the fires that have affected part of the Aragonese territory. In total, more than 40,000 hectares have been burned in these three months, with special emphasis on the fire in Las Peñas de Riglos that affected 18,400 hectares, the most devastating in recent years.

With the aim of regenerating the flora and fauna of the Community, several people from the Wildlife Support Network (RAFS) have come together to organize a solidarity concert in Jaca to raise funds for this cause. The solidarity concert that will take place next Friday, August 28, at 8:00 p.m. in the Church of Carmen will be in charge of the Zaragoza cellist Ángela Aguareles.

The young woman saw the fires up close and felt the need to do her bit as well. «It was a landscape that we saw from our house even though we were far away. There were so many people involved and trying so hard that you, as a citizen, also want to do something,» explains Ángela. And so, in an almost «spontaneous» way, the cellist proposed in a WhatsApp volunteer group that accumulates more than a thousand people, to perform this concert.

In less than a week, Sinués Musical and RAFS managed to organize the concert. «They welcomed the idea with great affection and coordinated it super well,» says Ángela, who adds that it has been a «challenge» to do it so quickly. «It has been for a good cause and we have been very excited.

«It has been a very dramatic thing. It has given me a lot of hope to see so much humanity and so much cooperation among people and to feel that really a group of a thousand strangers are suddenly all united for the same cause. And to feel that something as fragile and vulnerable as the environment can matter to people and that they are willing to help so much, has excited me a lot,» said the cellist from Zaragoza.

SOLIDARITY CONCERT

The concert, which will have a capacity of approximately 150 people, will raise money entirely for the recovery of the fauna. The management of donations, material and food will be carried out by Proyecto Anastasia (in addition to managing the logistics of the charity event), a solidarity network born in Zaragoza in 2022 and which already has a large international presence, having helped on different occasions with massive donation campaigns, animal rescue missions and aid to the most vulnerable victims.

The event will be free of charge, until full capacity is reached, with the possibility of donation after the end of the event. In addition, it will be a collection point for material for the fauna affected by the fire such as feed.

The cellist from Zaragoza Ángela Aguareles, considered one of the emerging talents of her generation, proposes a musical journey that breaks with the usual solemnity of the classical format. His repertoire covers the French and Polish identities before delving into Spanish music with composers such as Falla, Casals, Cassadó and Taguell. To his interpretive quality he adds a closeness and freshness on stage that seeks to involve the audience and make it part of the musical journey.
