The favourable evolution of the forest fire that originated last Monday in the area of Las Peñas de Riglos (Huesca) has allowed new restrictions to be lifted on the population on Monday, with the deconfinement this Monday of the towns of Santa Cilia de Jaca and Puente la Reina de Jaca, as announced by 112 Aragón.

However, Aragon maintains vigilance against the risk of new fires and preserves eight areas of the community at high risk of forest fires. The 112 Aragón has announced the lifting of the confinement of both municipalities as of 09.00 am this Monday, a measure that represents «a new step towards the normalisation of the situation after several days of restrictions derived from the advance of the fire».

The fire in Las Peñas de Riglos continues to be one of the largest recorded this summer in Spain. According to the activation of the European Copernicus Emergency Management Service, the fire affected a transition area between natural, agricultural and heritage areas, forced preventive evacuations in 18 localities and initially reached, according to the latest satellite maps, a burned area of close to 13,000 hectares.
