The 2026 Generational Renewal Plan has been announced and its objective is to make it easier for new entrepreneurs to take over existing businesses in rural areas and thus avoid their closure due to lack of continuity. This project is already under development by the Provincial Council of Huesca and has a budget of 100,000 euros.
At the moment, four businesses have joined the program. These are a restaurant in Binaced, a greengrocer in Sabiñánigo, an equine livestock farm in Sesué and an adventure company in Broto, which will receive support within the Relay Plan 2026.
The Plan contemplates a direct economic injection for those who acquire an existing business. The maximum amounts per applicant cover up to 80% of the investment expenditure (computer equipment, furniture, energy efficiency, renovations), with a maximum of 7,000 euros, and up to 80% of the current expenditure (notary, consultancy, licenses, online marketing), with a maximum of 3,000 euros.
As indicated by the Deputy for Development of the DPH, José Cebollero, «with these grants, of up to 10,000 euros in total per project, we want to keep active the companies in rural areas, also avoiding the closure of shops that are often strategic and, in addition, we generate opportunities in our towns. We do not want the effort, experience and know-how of those people who have run a business for years to be forgotten when they decide to step aside«.
The Plan has funding of 100,000 euros and in the first call, which closed on June 30, grants of 27,300 euros have been awarded. In this way, 72,700 euros are available for the second call that will close on September 30.
